Trigger point injections are injections into a tight and painful muscle. A small needle is guided into the muscle and a small amount of numbing medicine is injected into the irritated muscle. Sometimes steroid can be used, but often the anesthetic medicine alone can often provide excellent long-term relief. Sometimes it may take multiple rounds of trigger point injections to calm down an irritated muscle.
