Steroid joint injections can be used for irritation and arthritis within a specific joint or for bursitis —inflammation of the fluid filled sac around a joint. Common areas affected are the knee joint, the pes anserine bursa near the knee, the subacromial bursa in the shoulder, and the greater trochanter bursa near the hip.
